Black History Long Beach is proud to celebrate Kenneth A. McDonald, President and CEO of Long Beach Transit, for being named the Outstanding CEO at the 2025 American Public Transportation Association (APTA) Awards.
Mr. McDonald is among 13 leaders and organizations across North America recognized for their vision, leadership, and lasting contributions to public transportation. His honor reflects a career of dedicated service, innovative leadership, and a deep commitment to community-focused transit solutions.
This is not the first time Kenneth McDonald’s leadership has been recognized. Mr. McDonald was celebrated as a Black History Long Beach Wall of Excellence honoree in 2022 and participated in our CEO Roundtable – How to Engage Communities of Color in 2021.
As the head of Long Beach Transit, McDonald has overseen transformative initiatives, expanding access, improving service delivery, and strengthening the organization’s role as a regional mobility leader.
